Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles has held security talks with his New Zealand counterpart in Wellington over broadening the AUKUS partnership.
New Zealand has said it will strongly consider joining the deal’s second pillar – involving cyber security and intelligence.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed Australia’s eagerness to engage with New Zealand in a partnership beyond nuclear submarines as a measure to strengthen the relationship between the countries.
