G7 foreign ministers to discuss support to Ukraine in online format

The foreign ministers of the G7 countries (USA, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Canada and Japan) will meet today to discuss the situation in Ukraine and further response measures.

Report informs referring to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan that the meeting will be held online.

“At around 21.30 on December 22, an online meeting of the foreign ministers of the G7 countries will be held for about an hour, in which Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will take part,” the statement said.

It should be noted that on December 10, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said that, as chairman of the G7 in 2023, the country intends to promote assistance to Ukraine. He also noted that Tokyo would insist on strengthening sanctions against Russia.

On December 5, the G7 countries, as well as the European Union (EU), Australia and Norway introduced a price ceiling for Russian oil. The limits were set at $60 per barrel. On December 19, the EU energy ministers reached a political agreement on a gas price ceiling.
